On the occasion of the exhibition "Only My Strength of Will Remains", which opens on the day the Museo Nacional del Prado celebrates its 200th anniversary until February 16th 2020, Chief Curator of Prints and Drawings at the Museo Nacional del Prado, and Manuela Mena comment the "Bordeaux Sketchbooks" by Francisco de Goya.

"Sketchbooks G" and "H", of which the former has the date of 1826 on one of its sheets, address a wide variety of subjects rendered with a grotesque realism: recollections of Spain; life in Bordeaux, particularly satires on means of transport ant the city's fair; horrible scenes of murder and insanity; and sarcastic depictions of clergy.
