The Female Perspective: Maria Anna of Neuburg
Despite a life marked by constant travel, serious health issues largely caused by the desperate search for an heir, and the financial troubles she faced after the death of her husband Charles II, Maria Anna of Neuburg was one of the great artistic patrons of the seventeenth century.
The Prado Museum treasures the stories of great women who were key figures in artistic patronage. The documentary series The Female Perspective brings us closer to these queens, princesses, regents, and governors who made significant contributions both to the creation and consolidation of the Museum and to enriching the collections that we are fortunate to admire today.
