Towards a Posthuman Museum? Reflections on Posthumanism, Transhumanism and Museology

Lecture given by Javier Pantoja Ferrari, Museo Nacional del Prado.

This lecture forms part of the congress Cultural Coordinates in Present-Day Museology: Five Neologisms, held on 14 and 15 October 2021 at the Museo del Prado.

The International Congress Cultural Coordinates in Present-Day Museology: Five Neologisms is devoted to research analysing contemporary museological discourse and its effects on cultural communication. Numerous questions arise in relation, for example, to curatorial practices, new forms of knowledge transmission, the potential contributions of museology to social cohesion, the mediation provided by new technologies, and the critical enrichment that might be expected in areas such as gender-related demands, environmental sustainability, and others.

The sections are organised around five neologisms under which the topics for analysis and debate are distributed: Demomuseum, Exomuseum, E‑museum, Museosophy, and Hypermuseum.
