Alfonso Palacio Álvarez
The Deputy Director of Conservation and Research manages both the Senior Curators of the museum’s various collections and the Publishing Department. This position also coordinates the Prado’s Study Centre and the areas responsible for Restoration and Technical documentation, the technical aspects of collection management (Temporary Exhibitions and the Permanent Exhibition, Artwork Registrar and Deposits Services), Cultural Outreach and Education as well as the Library, Documentation & Archives.

He started his career at the financial press (at the publications Expansión and Gaceta de los Negocios).
He later worked at Antena3 TV as Deputy Director of News Bulletins and thereafter as a correspondent in Brussels.
In the communication sector, he has worked at Admira (Telefónica Group), Coca-Cola Spain and Unesa (Asociación Eléctrica Española).
Prior to this position, he was the General Director of Tourism for the Autonomous Community of Madrid.
He is the author of three books, including two on communication (El parche del Príncipe and Tú puedes ser noticia), as well as one on the brain and emotions (El mono feliz).

Francisco Tardío Baeza
Working under the Senior Management, the Head of International Relations designs and implements the internationalization strategy of the Museo Nacional del Prado as well as its international programming. He coordinates relations with Spanish institutions with jurisdiction abroad as well as with foreign representation bodies in Spain. Moreover, he is responsible for the policy applicable to alliances with multilateral and international organizations.
