A canal (The Netherlands)
Ca. 1877. Oil on canvas attached to canvas. Not on display
On the left bank of the river, hidden among the abundant vegetation, there is a small rural building and a bench. Next to the building, four willow trees are illuminated by the sun filtering through the clouds of an overcast sky. Behind, a line of poplar trees border the line of the canal and its waters reflect their slender trunks. The mass of trees is lost in the distance.
