This work is a study of the head of the monarch, perhaps as a preparatory work for the portrait of Alfonso XIII (Madrid, 1886–Rome, 1941), and King of Spain (1886–1931). He is wearing the garment of Grand Master of the Military Orders, which is currently in an unknown location. The work was painted shortly before the king´s death.
