This is a preparatory drawing for the figure in the lower left part of the fresco The Transfer of Saint Eugene’s Remains in the cloister of Toledo Cathedral. Three preparatory sketches for the fresco are extant: one in the cathedral of Toledo, another in the Ena Collection in Zaragoza, and a third in a private collection in Madrid. The figure is depicted standing with his face in profile. He holds his cope with his right hand. The study of the clothing is very thorough, whereas the head is only provisionally sketched.
