Captive

1779. White chalk, Red chalk on dark toned paper.
Not on display

This is a preparatory drawing for the figure in the lower-right part of the fresco of the Miracle or Accusation of Santa Casilda, located in the cloister of Toledo Cathedral. A preparatory sketch is kept in the Toledo Cathedral and another in the Ena Collection in Zaragoza. The Museo del Prado has other related drawings for the same fresco. This drawing depicts a figure standing, with his head tilting to his right and resting on his right hand. The study is very thorough.
