Rodríguez de Miranda was an outstanding landscape painter who developed his activity under the successive reigns of Philip V, Ferdinand VI, and Charles III. This landscape is part of the Flemish tradition of the seventeenth century and deals with the theme of Christ and the Samaritan woman (John 4, 1-42).
