Death of a Penitent Saint

XVIII century. Grey-brown wash, Pencil on laid paper.

The saint is seated on the ground and appears half-naked. Two women who appear to be carrying a jar attend to her. At her feet, there are a book and a skull. In the midground, several hooded monks or hermits stand whilst in dialogue with each other.
