Decorative Medallion
First half of the XIX century. Grey-brown wash, Ink on laid paper. Not on display
In the centre of a suspended cornice, an oval medallion is engraved. Two small angels and urns or lamps in front of leafy plant decoration appear. From this medallion, garlands of flowers and ribbons with seals or medals hang. The relief that decorates the top shows a Roman warrior addressing a woman seated at a table. This is most probably a project for an ephemeral decoration. Until the publication of the catalogue raisonné by José Luis Díez (1999), the Museo del Prado had attributed it to José Camarón Bonanat.
