Faust and Marguerite in Prison

Faust, Marguerite and Mephistopheles are the central characters in Faust (1807–1831), written by Johann W. Goethe (1749–1832). In the final scene of the first part, Faust (P007076), with the help of Mephistopheles (P006794), visits the prison in order to free Marguerite (P006368), imprisoned for murdering her illegitimate son, where she dies in his presence.
