In the Realism of Martí Alsina, it can be possible to establish a certain parallelism with the works of Courbet–the Realist painter par excellence– in the way of observing the female body. Martí Alsina, as well as the abovementioned French artist, not only did not idealise the models he used, but also he forced postures and scrutinised all the details of the anatomy that academic morality had excluded. This Nude reveals a firm body, which seems to be offered to the viewer with an almost obscene provocation.
