Imposition of the Scapular on Saint Simon Stock
Second half of the XVII century. Grey-brown wash, Pencil ground, Pencil on dark yellow paper. Not on display
The Virgin of Carmel is depicted standing. She holds the scapular in both hands, one end of which is kissed by Saint Simon Stock, who is kneeling at her feet and attended by a seraph pointing towards the Virgin. Cherubim hover around her and hold her crown and diadem. The scene is framed in an architectural portico.
This drawing is a Valencian work from the second half of the century. It recalls figures by Espinosa, such as the seraph. However, it also reflects the influence of Donoso. It can probably be attributed to the same artist as that of D000225.
