The work depicts Saint Jerome (Stridon, around 340 - Bethlehem, 420), who was Doctor of the Church. In the last moments of his life, the saint, old and weak, asked to receive the last communion surrounded by his disciples. This work is a copy of the original by Domenico Zampieri, Il Domenichino (1581–1641), dated 1614, which is located in the Pinacoteca Vaticana.
