Plan for a Tabernacle or Sanctuary
Late XVI century. Grey-brown wash, Pencil on yellow paper. Not on display
A plan for an architectural structure with a centralised floor finished with an ornamental dome, pierced with oculi and a roof lantern with a scaled dome. Includes angular columns in a Composite order. The frontispiece is topped by a broken triangular pediment and carved tablet or shield with the dove of the Holy Spirit and closed by doors with depictions of the four Evangelists. In the corners, on the cornice, sculptural figures of child angels hold shields. In the lower part of the frontispiece, there are decorative depictions, including rinceaux, foliated figures and shields. Traceable to the end of the 16th century, it could be related to Juan de Herrera, although it is reminiscent of the plateresque style.
