Soledad Kuntz Rambaud (16–8–1876) was the painter’s paternal second cousin, the daughter of Federico Kuntz Amor and of Encarnación Rambaud. She married the engineer Alfonso Fernández y Menéndez Valdés, who died in 1935. They had two children, Soledad and Federico. Her daughter, Soledad, was commissioned to fulfil her mother´s will. She wanted her portrait, that of her parents and a drawing of her sister Luisa by Federico de Madrazo to be donated to the Museo de Arte Moderno. The institution accepted the gift by Royal Decree of the 27th of March 1968.
