Surroundings of Trouville
1877 - 1884. Oil on canvas mounted on cardboard. Not on display
On the right of the painting, a coastal mound that juts out into the sea and disappears into the horizon. At the edge of the beach and to the right of the painting, a fishing boat stranded next to a palisade bordering a rocky slope can be seen. The large expanse of sky is heavily impastoed in some areas with light touches of pigment in others, to achieve a turbulent atmosphere.
