Andrade produced this painting having already achieved some recognition as an artist. This work won a third-class medal at the 1890 National Exhibition held in Madrid. A scene depicting three women against a landscape background, the painting belongs to the Realism art movement, turning its hallmark verism and accuracy into an attack on social injustice. The pyramidal composition of the three figures, the excellent drawing and austere colouring are the result of the author´s academic training.
