The two Marys worshipping the Holy Veil, with the Imprint of Christ´s Body
XVI century. Pencil, Grey-brown ink, Pencil on paper. Not on display
Inscribed in brown ink in the lower left corner, in an old hand: Titiano. The drawing was indeed placed as Titian (c. 1485-1576) in both Brun´s and Fernández Durán collection, since the front of his mount was captioned: TIZIANO VECELLI. In a pencil note on the modern museum mount, P. Pouncey wrote: Sacro Sindone di Torino / perhaps by Alessandro Maganza. The handling seems typical of Alessandro Maganza´s style.
