This is a preparatory drawing for the upper part of the cloak for the figure of Saint Mark intended for one of the pendentives on the Cupola of the Collegiate Church of La Granja de San Ildefonso, destroyed in the fire of 1920. The Museo del Prado has the sketch for the fresco (P002488). The study, in which only the cloak is visible, is very thorough.
