A director sleeps with his eyes open

One day, the Director is at home and they call to tell him that the door of Murillo is on fire. Somebody threw a Molotov cocktail or something along those lines, it's 11 p.m., and he rushes to the Museum. The director of the Museum has to be ready for anything. That happened to me and the repairs cost 14 million pesetas. Metaphorically, you could say that the director must sleep with his eyes open.
Professor of Archaeology at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid. Director of the Museo del Prado and the Museo Arqueológico Nacional, Managing Director of the Bellas Artes y Archivos and permanent member of the Real Academia de Bellas Artes de San Fernando.
