We were always very close to Ms. Manuela Mena because we knew her before she started working at the Museum. She would come by to check things at the library. And one of the paintings she had to analyse in her examination was Goya's Immaculate Conception. It was a small painting that was hanging in the hallway leading to the Director's office. I always had a good friendship with her. I have a picture with her oldest daughter and of her wedding when it was shown in the newspaper. I had a car accident and they came to see me, she and her husband, Alfonso. They brought the biggest box of chocolates I ever received. But then I couldn't eat any... It was very nice nonetheless.
She joined the Museum after passing a state exam in 1977, being one of the first women to belong to the Special Corps of Junior Officials, then going on to provide clerical support.
