Luxurious silks, painted silks in the 14th century
Live video with Joan Molina, Head of the Collection of European Painting up to 1500 at the Museo del Prado and curator of the exhibition “In the Italian Manner: Spain and the Mediterranean Gothic, 1320–1420”, discussing Tuscan textiles from cities such as Lucca and Florence—silks woven with gold threads and decorated with animal and geometric motifs—and the technical sophistication of Trecento masters who incorporated them into their paintings.
“In the Italian Manner: Spain and the Mediterranean Gothic, 1320–1420” is sponsored exclusively by BBVA Foundation.
In Rooms A and B of the Museo del Prado from 26 May to 20 September 2026.
