A Bunch of Grapes
1875. Oil on canvas. Room AThe painter Joaquina Serrano signed and dated this still life, an heir to the Baroque tradition and the language of Juan Fernández el Labrador, in 1875, and presented it a year later along with two other works at the National Exhibition of Fine Arts. Although they were not awarded any prizes, the paintings were acquired by the State on 6 July 1876 for 250 pesetas each, and were sent to the Museo del Prado as encouragement to the young woman in her progress as a painter.
