Angels adoring the name of Jesus and the Immaculate Conception, with the Eternal Father
XVII century. Pencil on laid paper. Not on display
In drawing on the left, three cherubim face the front while kneeling on clouds. Their heads are raised towards the dazzling disc above them, surrounded by more cherubim.
In drawing on the right, the Immaculate Virgin, with her hands together and half-kneeling on the crescent moon, receives the blessing from the Eternal Father, accompanied by the Holy Spirit located in the upper right corner. The drawing depicts a landscape background with a ship, a column, a sun and a cypress tree. These are symbols of the Litany of the Loreto.
They are two independent stories framed on the same sheet of paper. The first one has been badly damaged on the left. This drawing is very characteristic of the artist’s style.
