Death of Adonis (?)

First third of the XVII century. Pencil, Red chalk, Grey-brown ink, Squared-up on yellow laid paper.
Not on display

Adonis is depicted lying on the ground, dead. Meanwhile, Venus appears in profile facing left and bowing over him. Landscape background.

Although the drawing’s evidently mythological subject might not be clear, its style leaves no doubt on the attribution of the work to Cajés.
