Female Head
1781. White chalk, Black chalk on green paper. Not on display
This drawing is traced in pencil. The figure is in three-quarter length and facing the right.
It is preparatory for the figure of a Saintly Martyr in the central part of the cupola interior of the Regina Virginum, painted in 1781. The Museo del Prado keeps Head of Saint Barbara (D000407), in addition to Female Head (D000482), for the cupola interior of the Regina Virginum in the Chapel of Santiago. It also keeps preparatory drawings for the pendentives of the cupola: Virginity (D000540), Innocence (D000542), Abstinence (D000538) and Modesty (D00544).
The Museo Diocesano in Zaragoza keeps the corresponding sketch.
