The Fernandine style introduced in the reign of Ferdinand VII succeeded – and strongly resembled – the Empire style associated with Napoleon’s government. In design, the frame was highly reminiscent of the metal appliqués used for furniture. These frames (M000610 and M000611) though not the originals, are nonetheless of considerable historical and artistic value. They were produced in 1910-12 based on Fernandine aesthetics, evident in the decoration of corners and centres.
