Ignacio, son of the artist, shirtless
1890. Oil on canvas. Not on display
Between 1881 and 1895, Ignacio Pinazo Camarlench painted a series of children´s portraits of his own and other children. On this occasion, he portrays his son Ignacito shirtless. His long hair makes him an asexual being, conveying an image of childlike delicacy and fragility, with exquisite details such as the gestures of his hands. In this painting, Pinazo shows how Goyaesque modernity is not contrary to the most profound capture of childlike gentleness.
