Isabella II, Queen of Spain
Ca. 1860. Oil on canvas. On display elsewhere
Isabella II (Madrid, 1830–Paris, 1904). Queen of Spain (1833–68). Across her chest she displays the great Cross and the sash of the Order of the Württemberg and Spanish Crown of María Luisa.
Up until now, the work was attributed to Luis de Madrazo. However, its recent restoration allowed the identification of the anagram that Hernández Amores occasionally used as a signature.
