This may be a sketch for one of the allegorical paintings in the Ateneo de Madrid. The figure has been identified with Herminia, Palmaroli’s model in Paris. However, according to the catalogue of the retrospective exhibition devoted to the artist in 1935–36, it was painted in Rome.
