Picos de Europa
Ca. 1874. Oil on paper attached to cardboard. Not on display
On the left, between the bushes, rocks and stones which appear on a green hillside. several crags rise, sloping down and disappearing in depth to the right. They stand out by their light and shade –suggested by dragging pigments– against the luminous sky. Further in the background on the left, two more peaks stand out against the sky. Once again, the chosen spot is the lower hillsides of the eastern massif of Picos de Europa, in the area near the Mancorbo Canal. Specifically, these are the spurs on the slopes between Ullances and Trulledes, on one side, and Viñón and Colio on the other. It is a crossing point between the two sites and is located below the landscape represented in Fog (Picos de Europa) (P006701).
