This is a preparatory drawing for six different hand positions for the corresponding figures in the canvas of the Assumption of the Virgin on the High Altar in the Parish Church of Valdemoro in Madrid. The Museo Camón Aznar in Zaragoza keeps a preparatory sketch. In the Museo del Prado, there are several related preparatory drawings. This drawing depicts the detailed study of six hands in different positions. In the upper register, there are two pairs with interlaced fingers. In the lower register, one is depicted showing the palm and the other appears in profile.
