This preparatory drawing was made for the main figure in the upper part of the central register of the canvas Assumption of the Virgin, located on the main altarpiece in the Parish Church of Valdemoro in Madrid. A preparatory sketch is kept in the Museo Camón Aznar in Zaragoza. The Museo del Prado has several related preparatory drawings. The figure is depicted full-length with outstretched arms. The study of the garment is very thorough, but the figure is barely sketched.
