The magazine El Artista spread the ideas of Romanticism in Spain. Biographies of the still-living artists of the neoclassicism generation were published on its pages, but already combined in the past with a clear will to position themselves. Among them appeared that of Vicente López, in his second volume, accompanied by this image of noble old age made by a true stylistic rival of the Valencian master.
