This is a preparatory drawing for two figures intended for the fresco The Spanish Monarchy, Protector of the Fine Arts in the Casita del Príncipe (Cottage of the Prince) in El Pardo Palace. This drawing constitutes the study of two heads: the one on the left is a female head, depicted in right profile and looking upwards; the one on the right is a male head of three-quarter length, looking downwards.
