Born in Rome in 1855, Antonia Bañuelos was regarded as one of the leading Spanish artists of her time. Carlos G. Navarro and José Manuel Matilla, Head of the Museo del Prado’s Collection of Drawings, Prints and Photographs, also present "The Countess of Bañuelos", a drawing by Gordon Greenough, Antonia Bañuelos’s second cousin. The work portrays the artist and was exhibited at the Paris Universal Exposition of 1878.
