Isabel Farnese, Collector of Classical Sculpture

Live video (in Spanish) with Manuel Arias, Head of the Sculpture Collection up to 1700 at the Museo del Prado, and Noelia García Pérez, Scientific Director of “The Female Perspective” and Professor of Art History at the University of Murcia, discussing the collection of classical sculpture acquired at the initiative of Queen Isabel Farnese, which had previously belonged to Christina of Sweden.

In this video, Noelia García Pérez and Manuel Arias show the fleur‑de‑lis mark that identified the ownership of Isabel Farnese on works such as the "Diadumenus" or the "Crouching Aphrodite", and briefly discuss sculptures including "Faun with kid" and "Orestes and Pylades" or "The San Ildefonso Group".

From Rooms 71, 72 and 73 of the #MuseoDelPrado.
