Doña Blanca of Navarre taking her Leave of a Lady-in-Waiting
Ca. 1868. Pencil on paper. Not on display
This is the fullest known preparatory drawing for the painting on the same theme now in the Museo del Prado (P008287). Rosales focuses here on the figure of Blanca of Navarre herself, and on the gesture with which she consoles her lady-in-waiting, while simplifying the decorative details of her costume, which would receive more elaborate treatment in the final composition.
