This is a preparatory drawing for the figure of Certainty in the lower-left part of the fresco The Orders of the Spanish Monarchy in the King’s Bedroom, currently known as the Tapestry Room and located in the Royal Palace in Madrid. The Museo del Prado keeps a chiaroscuro sketch (P02481) and several related preparatory drawings. This is a study of the figure’s head: a female head depicted from the front and looking upwards.
