This is a preparatory drawing for the figure of Saint Bartholomew in the central right part of the fresco Regina Apostolorum. Painted in 1781, it is located in the nave to the left of the Holy Chapel of the Basilica of Our Lady of Pilar in Zaragoza. The Museo Diocesano in Zaragoza keeps two preparatory sketches, one of which is in grisaille. The Museo del Prado also keeps many preparatory drawings for the same fresco. The figure is depicted nude, seated on a cloud. He is turned to the left and holds a knife in his right hand.
