It’s not the same lighting a picture in Hall Sala 12 as it is to light one in Hall 10, which is lower. It’s not the same to provide lighting in the Functions Room, in Hall 31, as it is in Hall 16. These rooms have artificial light; they are mixed, whilst the others only have artificial light. The height of the halls also matters, as does the size of the pictures, because it’s not the same providing light for a small picture as it is for a large one. And it’s not same lighting up a portrait, which just has the portrait and no background, as it is illuminating paintings with backgrounds and landscapes. It also matters whether the painting is clean or whether the varnish is more or less old. All of these aspects must be taken into account when lighting up a picture.
He began working at the Museum as an elevator operator, and he has been an electrician there since 1988.
