I remember them all and I would like to say with affection as I believe they have all given the best of themselves within their possibilities in order to fulfil the Museum’s requirements.
I will perhaps single out Alfonso Pérez Sánchez as he was the first I worked with. Prior to that I only knew him from his academic track record, which I greatly respected, and I must say that my relationship with him, as with all the directors, was absolutely impeccable. This is something I consider to be an obligation on the part of the president of the Amigos. I would also like to make special mention of Miguel Zugaza’s directorship. For 15 years he held the position with enormous good sense and an enormous capacity for work and it was under his guidance that the extension was built which has also been so important for the Museum.
Member of the Royal Board of Trustees of the Museo del Prado, appointed personally in 1993. On December 2, 1996, with the enactment of the royal decree modifying the composition of the Royal Board of Trustees ex officio membership, he became an ex officio member as the chairman of the Friends of the Museo del Prado Foundation, a position that he has held since 1988.
