We tried to assess the issue of the enlargement because the Museum lacked enough space to welcome the public and common areas.
The Villanueva building had been gradually earmarked for extending the rooms dedicated to the permanent collection. There was no more storage space, the offices were very small. The cafeteria was tucked away in the basement and generally there was not much space in a Museum with a very important collection.
Director of the Museo del Prado, and previously been a member of its Board of Trustees. After his departure, he appoints Honorary Director. He is also at the helm of museums such as the Museo de Bellas Artes de Valencia San Pío V and the Museo Nacional de Cerámica y Artes Suntuarias González Martí, both located in the same city.
