The Casón had been the home of numerous State bodies. One of them was the Upper House of Parliament [Estamento de Próceres]. So, during the time of Cánovas del Castillo’s ministry a small library had been installed. This was a beautiful room. It had a small staircase with a sort of passage with a tunnel that led to the upper part which had a beautiful wrought-iron railing, and all the shelves had glass fronts that were locked. It was a bit like the Senate library but on a small scale. It was a really unique space that doesn’t exist any more.
She began working at the Library of the Department of 19th Century Painting, then becoming Conservator in 1987.
