This is a preparatory drawing for the figure in the foreground on the left side of the composition of The Saint Peter, Altarpiece in the Chapel of Saint Peter in Toledo Cathedral. There are two preparatory sketches: one in a private collection and the other in Toledo Cathedral. The Museo del Prado has several related preparatory drawings for the same canvas. The figure is depicted kneeling, in right profile and with his hands raised and joined together. The study of the clothing is thorough, but the body parts are barely sketched. The Museum has a detailed study of the arms and hands (D000612).
