This is a preparatory drawing for the figure in the right part of the central register of the composition of The Saint Peter Altarpiece in the chapel devoted to Saint Peter in Toledo Cathedral. Two preparatory sketches are extant: one in a private collection and the other in Toledo Cathedral. The Museo del Prado keeps several related preparatory drawings for the same canvas. The figure is depicted standing, facing the front, with his head turned to his right and his arms outstretched. The study of the clothing is very thorough, whereas the limbs are barely sketched.
