This tabletop has a design of geometrical motifs around a large, agate oval with a decoration of coloured marble inlay. It is known as “the Venetian Piece” due to the fact that it has been identified as the table or sideboard that was located “in the third room of the court painters’ workshop in the Alcázar, known as the Venetian [room]”, according to the 1700 inventory of the possessions of Charles II.
