The impact of a painting

Carmen Garrido Pérez, Head of the Technical Office, 1982-2012
As far as paintings go, here at the Prado Museum I've felt a number of emotions.
I remember something that really hit me and I'm not sure whether I was more receptive that day or what happened. It happened when Rocío Dávila was restoring the Christ Crucified by Velázquez. It was an afternoon with a special light and it was not a religious matter, it was the impact of the painting, something that leaves you speechless, wondering how a painter could do that.
Any painting you look at, when you know how to look at it, can stir up emotions. It can be truly emotional and sometimes you even shed a tear or two.
